There is something special about an original painting.
It carries the evidence of the artist’s hand the texture of the paint, the layering of colour, the small decisions made along the way. But not everyone has the space, or the opportunity, to own an original.
That is where my limited-edition prints come in.
I’ve selected a collection of my works to be reproduced as high-quality Giclée art prints, allowing the details, colour and character of the original paintings to be experienced in a more accessible format.
And now, these limited-edition prints have found a home at Eslite Starhill, Kuala Lumpur.
From photograph to painting, from painting to print
Many of my works begin with something ordinary that catches my attention.
A Malaysian landscape.
The light falling across a kampung rooftop.
The shapes of leaves and foliage.
A fleeting arrangement of colour.
For Kampung Golden Hour, for example, I began with a photograph. But the photograph was only the starting point.
I sketched the scene, reducing it into lines, planes, geometric forms and colour. I wasn’t trying to reproduce the photograph exactly. I was interested in translating the feeling of that moment into my own visual language.
That process of simplifying and rebuilding is at the heart of my work.
The finished painting then becomes the source for the Giclée print.
So although the print is a reproduction, it begins with something very handmade.
A photograph. A sketch. A painting. A print.
The collection
The collection brings together several pieces from my Terrain of Feeling body of work abstracted landscapes, botanicals and memories rooted in Malaysian surroundings.
Among them are:
Second Bloom
A geometric botanical composition built from layered greens, blues and a small flash of coral. The work explores growth and renewal through an abstracted floral form.
First Rain
Deep blues, charcoal and warm earth tones come together in an abstract interpretation of the atmosphere after rain , a landscape somewhere between memory and imagination.
Low Tide
A quieter composition of pale blues, soft greens and earthy neutrals. The horizontal geometry creates a sense of shifting water, shoreline and open space.
Kampung Golden Hour
Warm terracotta, ochre and coral tones recreate the atmosphere of a Malaysian kampung at sunset. Familiar rooftops and tropical forms are reduced into geometric shapes.
Kampung Golden Hour II
A companion work exploring the same sense of place through a different composition, with stylised palms, rooftops and evening light.
Held
A close-up abstract botanical work, built from overlapping geometric forms in deep greens and blue. The title reflects the feeling of holding onto something — a moment, a memory, a season.
Fault Line
A more dramatic composition where cool turquoise and deep blue meet a warm, textured golden landscape. The dividing line becomes both a visual structure and a point of tension.
Why limited edition?
I wanted these prints to retain a sense of collectibility.
They aren’t intended to be an endlessly reproduced poster.
A limited edition gives each work a defined place within my practice and allows me to share selected pieces beyond the original paintings themselves.
For me, this is also about making contemporary art a little more approachable.
You don’t always need a huge wall or a large budget to live with art.
Sometimes one carefully chosen piece is enough to change the feeling of a room.
Art for the spaces we live in
I think about my work in relation to interiors quite naturally.
Perhaps it’s because of my background in design and interiors, but I’m always aware of how colour, proportion, texture and negative space interact with a room.
These prints are made to be lived with.
Above a console.
In a dining room.
At the entrance of a home.
In a quiet corner where you see it every morning.
The intention isn’t to dominate the space, but to become part of it.
Something you notice differently over time.
